Plain answers about what StarringMe sells, which AI models help create the stories, and how safety checks fit into the process.

What does StarringMe sell?
StarringMe sells private, parent-managed AI picture-book experiences where a child-inspired hero stars in the story. A parent creates a short illustrated book, previews it first, and can save or export books depending on the selected product.
StarringMe is a custom product interface built on top of third-party AI models. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by those providers.
As of June 3, 2026, story text is generated with DeepSeek via the deepseek-v4-flash text model. Story covers, page illustrations, and optional private hero reference assets are generated through Volcengine Ark / Seedream image models, currently doubao-seedream-5-0-260128 with doubao-seedream-4-5-251128 as a fallback.
Does the photo feature clone a child's face?
No. A reference photo is optional and is used only to guide a private storybook-style hero toward a similar hair, face-shape impression, skin tone, and outfit color. The goal is a child-inspired character, not an exact face clone, face swap, deepfake, or public identity replica.
Before eligible prompts reach image generation, StarringMe screens generation requests with the Creem Moderation API. Requests that appear unsafe, sexual, NSFW, exploitative, harmful, privacy-invasive, or inappropriate for a child-facing story can be blocked before generation.
We block both flag and deny decisions. In production, if required moderation is unavailable or malformed, generation fails closed instead of continuing.
Yes. Model providers and model versions may change for safety, quality, availability, or cost reasons. Material public changes will be reflected in this FAQ, the Terms of Service, or both.
What data may be sent to AI providers?
When AI generation is enabled, story setup, child-inspired hero details, avoid notes, optional photo-reference status, and generated image prompts may be sent to the listed providers so they can screen or generate the requested story. API keys are kept server-side and are not exposed to the browser.
How do refunds, story fixes, and cancellation work?
The Pricing page includes a 7-day first-paid-story guarantee. StarringMe first checks the order date, whether the issue is about the first paid story, and whether another paid story from that purchase has already been used. Eligible refund requests go to support review and approved refunds return to the original Creem payment method.
The first eligible paid-story hero issue gets one system-granted regeneration credit or replacement credit. A second hero fix, subjective quality dispute, or refund request should be sent to support@starringme.org with the checkout email, story title, and what went wrong.
Starter Shelf and Story Pack are one-time purchases. Journey renews monthly until canceled and can be canceled through the Creem Customer Portal linked from the payment receipt; support remains the backup if the portal is not accessible before the next renewal date.
Where can I ask questions?
For account, billing, privacy, deletion, generation, refund, or safety questions, email support@starringme.org.
